Here is the colour challenge at Orange Paperie and Co this month.
I could have chosen a doorway or a balcony but have done something different.

I've used the salt and ink technique again with turquiose and red misting.
Then I've matted my photo on turquoise hand made paper and used chipboard corners which were painted white first, then misted blue.

My title and jounalling block are also following the turquiose theme.

The ship in the photo is moon shaped and the corners in the doorway on the original picture are this shape too.The other feature is it is tall....so was this statue!

Back to the 1960s using Scrapmatts

Here's an old photo, taken from a slide,of my sister. She was sitting in a chair contemplating something.I've used matching papers from "The Write stuff" and Graphics 45.Also on there is a wonderful Wicker chair from scrapmatts to match the one in the photo and a fan folded flower with antique button centre. The LOVE tag is from My Minds eye and I've added some vellum and washi tape to complete the layout.

Salt and ink technique

I've been trying out a new technique that I saw in Scrapbook Creations which is the salt and ink technique.I've used both blue and geen mists on this not only on the background but on the flowers and chipboard. The scrapmatts oval ornate frame was distressed using white paint, blue mist and gesso.I've also used a doiley transparency from prima and rub ons from kaisercraft. The heading is purposely subtle, almost ghostly, as I wanted the flowers to be the main focus on this layout. They are heidi grace and carolee creations alphas.

Shadow at Bird is the word

The latest word at BITW is SHADOW.
I've found this photo of my dd at an ancient church in Rhodes Greece, standing in an archway. It was such a hot day,we were searching out shade wherever we went. She looks so relaxed and in tune with 1,000s of others who may have stood there before. As the church has been there for nearly 2000 years,I thought of this title.

I've used Scrapmatts doves and nameplate painted white, plus ribbons, washi tape, buttons(including an unusual old mother of pearl one),and a large black doiley from Typo. The "n"s in the word ancients were chosen because of the arch shapes to reflect that in the photo. Background paper is Kaisercraft "Be Merry" and the vellum is EK success Over the Moon press.

Show us your stuff and travelling

I'm sitting here with both shingles and a tummy bug. To take my mind off the scratching I've kept my hands busy with this layout. I've named it "camera busy!" as I took just over 1100 photos while on my 7 week trip around Europe.I plan to use this as a title page for my album.I've used camera and filmstrip themed washi tape as my inspiration match. The slide mount and swirly filmstrip emulates the idea of cameras too.

August 1st sketch at Stuck?! in York

For Stuck?! sketches I have chosen a kit I bought from STS using Crate Papers. The place is the Shambles in York,England.I made a journalling pocket (Sara Books from Hot off the Press)adding English rubons to decorate it.The tones in these papers went with the photos extremely well.

Ice cream canvas at Scrapmatts

I was thinking of neopolitan ice cream while making this canvas.I've used 3 photos of Christopher,Jonathan and my daughter Erica all eating ice creams. I started by dribbling paint across the canvas. After it dried,I used a pink doiley,an ice cream ad from Singapore and 3 Scrapmatts ice creams. These I painted with barely beige for the cones and a mixture of brown/red/cream for the chocolate tops. I finished it with a border of ribbon, reminiscent of gelato colours. I plan to hang this in my kitchen.

Scrap the girls

I've chosen pink and black for this month's challenge at Scrap the girls. It started with drizzling blobs of paint on black cardstock. After that dried, I've added chipboard border stars from Buzz and Bloom, along with a pink heart shaped doiley. The background paper is K& Co and I've added washi tape filmstrip along the sides.Lettering is American craft foam thickers.

Watch out at 123

1,2,3 challenge at "Our bright stars and us" asked for the word watch, green and texture paste. In my layout named "Watch out" I've used 7 Gypsies paper, texture paste squeezed through a doiley to create the flower and on the top flower a different technique.I smeared the back of the doiley with texture paste, creating suction then drew the doiley up leaving raised sections. In the centre of each I've used a scrapmatts flower.I've finished with red and green embellishments to match the colours. Annabelle tried to sneak a sip of beer while her grandfather wasn't watching.

Swimming at Kraft it up

I've used the Kaisercraft range named Chapter one for this layout which is based on a sketch. I started by misting through a doiley using both turquoise and green to get the same colour as the water in the photos. Then I've cropped 2 photos and distressed the edges of the mats for texture. The lower mat has been attached using Crate Paper brads. I used trimmings from Kaisercraft on the LHS,including an arrow pointing to Christopher. The wooden key is from Typo and the lettering is Heidi Grace. In some places there are up to 5 layers on here, another requirement from KIU.

Challenge #51 Strawberries and cream card

My scanner has faded the colours in this card despite several scanning attempts. The background is baby pink and the 2 circles and butterflies are a hot pink(like barbie pink). The challenge was to use layers so I've layered the butterflies and the circle/oval elements. The background pp reminds me of strawberry pips which is why I chose it.

Creative pockets for travelling

While I had my travel embellishments out I converted these Sara book pockets to journalling pockets for travel layouts. Each one measures 14cm x8cm and are ideal for cards or layouts.

White with one and travelling

White with one this month asked for maps and travelling embellishments. I've cut around a scrapbook paper from Lincraft featuring a skyline of London. Then I matted a photo taken from the London eye along with a quote saying "To travel is to live". These I placed on a background map.I've added a tag saying GO with another embellishment saying explore.I've inked around the edge of the layout and the tag. Watching the Olympics I can see how it has influenced this layout.

Sixty

I saw this technique for splitting and folding back the edges of pattern paper in SM Vol 13 no 9 and wanted to try it. I've stapled the folded down curls. Also there is a Prima felt flower plus Scrapmatts birdcage and stand, which I've inked in gold.
