The sketch file and In the pink.

The sketch file  has this sketch.

In the pink wants pink Christmas.

I've combined the 2 and made this card.

The patterned papers are more crimson than they look.On here it appears salmon.

Hope you all had a Happy Christmas and wishing you a wonderful 2018.

Shopping our stash & Just add ink.

Shopping our Stash has a pink challenge and Just add ink wants us to choose 2 of 3 things

 I've used twine and tag.

Before

After

I just realised I didn't add any ink, so I inked around the outside of the tag edge with crimson.

Case this sketch

I thought I was finished making cards until after Christmas but this popped up in my news feed on Facebook and I had to do it.
I've been saving thin strips of patterned paper and recently sorted them in plastic bags in colours.(Yes I'm a Virgo and organised)
Here was an opportunity to use some!

Working around the blue theme I created this card.
I had the Vespa image on my desk so added that at the last minute.

123 challenge

The challenge at 123 is to use this.

I followed the sketch closely and used mainly geometric papers/paint effects.
There is some ginger on the layout as my gingerbread men were pre-made.(hope I'm forgiven)

This Christmas is memorable to us because Dad won a moustache in his bonbon and wore it for most of Christmas Dinner. We all laughed except my grumpy brother in law.He is funny because of the contrast between the two.

Monday 18 December 2017

4 crafty chicks & Crafty Animals.

Here are 3 Christmas penguins I made to sell for charity.
They have boggly eyes.

The challenge over at 4 crafty chicks is winter critters.
Crafty Animals is anything goes, these 3 penguins are animals, so I'm adding them there too.

I'm hoping that these qualify and it doesn't have to be a card.

Just add ink

Just add ink has this sketch.
I'm using the Kaisercraft Just Peachy collection again with this card.

The flower on the yellow is a rub on. The sentiment is a stamp.
Hope you like it!

Scrapping Outback

Image result for pink paislee fascinating                                                This paper is Pink Paislee ,Fascinating. It features a watermelon red background with small flowers.

It is my starting point for my Scrapping Outback layout.

White with watermelon red , lime green and a touch of blue

I mounted my photos on white cardstock and cut the centre from a white paper doiley.I've used both parts on my layout plus the white and green tag. (hopefully that is enough white!)

My chipboard piece is the large leaf at bottom left.(painted) I've also painted wood veneer butterflies and a leaf with palest lime/white.
My layout is called  @ PBG (short for Phoenix Botanical Gardens). I was running out of space and alphas.

I'll add my journaling later.

Tic Tac Toe challenge

All my Christmas cards are made and many sold. I don't need to make any more.
I like Tic Tac Toe challenge because you can go off on another track.

On this card I decided to go down the left vertical column.
Turquoise embossing and vellum.

I've used plain vellum and put it through the cuttlebug to emboss it.
The sentiment is one of those strips you cut off the bottom of scrapbooking paper.
I added a blue star rhinestone as a finishing touch.

Stuck?!

This sketch is for stuck?! sketches December.
I really like it because it gives a chance to use those offcut strips.
I also used 2 Fleur de LIs shaped chipboard pieces from Memory Maze, which I have had for ages.
I painted them cream then stamped a swirly pattern on.

The heart shape was from a table decoration given to us at a recent wedding.
My wood veneer butterflies I left neutral.
The photos are of the Sonoran desert butterfly.

Here it is!

City crafter

Over at City crafter they want a hat.
I've chosen the obvious for this time of the year, Santa in his hat.

The Merry Christmas challenge wants anything Christmas so I entered it there as well.

Friday 8 December 2017

Cardz4guyz plus others

At Cardz4guyz they have a snowman theme.

After some thought, I came up with this snowmen paper and matching snowflake trim.

I'm also entering it at the following
Always Fun-snowman
~Crafty Calendar-Christmas
~Card Mania-Christmas
~Aud Sentiment-sentiment and Christmas

Challenge YOUrself

I've chosen a quote "You are you, this is truer than true, there is no one alive who is youer than you"

On my layout I used only part of that quote.

I used 2 tape measures, a flower I made myself from hessian, a button plus some stickers from a set I has with a matching journaling block.
Yes this is me...back in the late 1970s.
The back ground paper is October Afternoon and is shaped.

Scrap Soup

This layout is for Paper Issues Scrap Soup.

My photos are of a café/deli/restaurant we stopped in on the way to Sedona.
http://indiangardens.com/

If you are ever out that way, go in there. They have a gorgeous garden at the back amidst the trees with a creek running nearby.

My 2 photos are of Indian Gardens café.
My 2 circles are cut from brown paper
My 3 colours are black, cream and brown.
My 3 embellishments are black washi tape, the "love" bingo card and 2 transparencies of the owl and basket.
I've hand written my journaling and the date.

Using a complicated sketch

This sketch from Sketch Savvy was quite complicated. In fact I had to print it off and shade areas as I added papers to the layout. It was morning puzzle for me to master.

I had 3 photos of ART DECO style from New York, New York at Las Vegas.
This style appeals to me, like many people.
Here's my layout.

As this isn't entered on a challenge, it would be nice if some of you lurkers out there commented.
I wonder sometimes who looks at my pages.

Mystical Scapbooks challenge #2

Mystical Scrapbooks

Las Vegas is a crazy place. People everywhere, noise, too much visual overload!
For this reason I chose a multi-coloured paper that screams bright.
My strip vertically features arrows and is also bright.
Instead of a tag peeking out behind the photos, I used a playing card.
I've also used a transparency as the "paper " on the right.
Additional to the sketch details I added a Jolie's Boutique sign for Las Vegas.

Mystical December challenge #1

Challenge 1 - Karen's Recipe Challenge

Pattern paper distressed , 12 embellishments , 2 word title and hand journaling

I"m so happy with this layout as I used a tiki paper I've had in my stash for 14 years!!!!!

Enough excitement.
I tore quite often on this layout and folded back a couple of times ,holding with staples (distressing)

My 12 embellishments are the cactus and mountain goat (2) + Live laugh love(1)+ white dots(5) and words describing my statues (5) .
This makes a total of 13-a bakers dozen!

My 2 word title and hand journaling are there as well.

No idea why the text is in white boxes,...

Scrap our stash & another freaking scrappy challenge

December Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge

Here's the challenge for this month at Scrap our stash.
I'm going straight down the middle, so  Ampersand, holiday theme and green.

I started with a green patterned paper misted with green.
I layered my photo of a star light we sat under for our Christmas lunch last year.
I've used MME stars and Merry Christmas stickers plus some washi tape accents.
The ampersand is in the title.

I'm also entering it another freaking scrappy challenge and also at Christmas cards all year round where they accept any papercraft

Anything goes card and die cutting divas

Here's a purple toned card I made just for fun.
I'm entering it in the following challenges:

http://lemonshortbreadchallenge.blogspot.com.au/ ANYTHING GOES

http://craftingfromtheheartchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/ ANYTHING GOES

********************************************************************************
At Die cutting Divas they ask us to use a previous sketch for the year.
I've gone with MAY and it looks like this.

Of course it is a Christmas card and my die cut is a bird.
The layering is some vellum I had.

More than words challenge

http://morethanwordschallenge.blogspot.com.au/ has a numbers and family challenge.

MTW-201712-Main
I've used a white background and misted over with a gold outline of cogs.
Both my daughter and I are thinkers/dreamers so the cogs turning signify us.
I matted in purple to match my top, but also because it is her favourite colour.
The numbers are black leather, I thought they made a great texture.
The layout is pulled together with gold and white washi tape.

Let's get sketchy

Here's the sketch at "Let's get sketchy".
Let's get sketchy
I'm working through my Arizona photos so here's one of the Grand Canyon.
Once again, I used a striped paper for the layers of rock in the canyon.
My embellishments are from a Jolee's Boutique range made especially for the canyon.
I wanted to use them ,so here they are. I did not go hiking but we saw many who did.

It was a dream come true and a bucket list moment! Hence the title.

Paper Issues

Paper Issues scraplift challenge is on facebook : https://www.facebook.com/groups/1499810043590964/

The original looks like this

I had a train photo I wanted to scrap so went masculine with mine.
I'm pleased to have used felt stars and old buttons plus a misted gold cog chipboard piece.
Best of all was using up 5 of those strips from the bottom of papers.

The stars are yellow, not a washed out cream as they appear here.

Monday 4 December 2017

Cardz4galz and 4 crafty chicks.

4 crafty chicks has an anything goes challenge.
Cardz4galz wants cupcakes.

I've gone pink with this card as I wanted to use up the strips sitting on my desk.
I also had the gold glittery cupcake as the main feature.
This is for a 10 year old neighbour's birthday.

Sunday 3 December 2017

Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday

This is the sketch at Paper Issues.
It appeals to me because of that skew paper on the left.
I dug out my rust coloured papers and embellishments as the rocks around Sedona are red.
I've used 3 embellishments that I bought at Michaels while I was over there...
The map of Arizona, the compass and the road runner.

Saturday 2 December 2017

Sketches in Thyme-December

This is the first December sketch at Sketches in Thyme.
Sketches in Thyme
I've chosen a very bright Basic Grey Paper named "Raspberry" as my background.
Next I cut a large vertical journaling block into 4 pieces and used it horizontally.
(Looks like a Navaho rug to me!)

I double matted my photo of Maggie and Christina gambling on the BIG poker machine.(Didn't win)
The papers I used for that are 7 dots studio "All I ever".

Next, I scattered across the layout embellishments for Las Vegas from Jolie's boutique.
Someone gave me big square rhinestones, which until now I had no use for.
In the case of Las Vegas, nothing is too much....so I glued them on.
Next I used old felt alphas(or numbers in this case) for my title and the asterix on the trail.

You gotta admit it is different!

In reality this is straight. My scanner is doing its sloping up routine. (grr!)

If you give a crafter a cookie

If you give a crafter a cookie has this picture.

Santa and a doiley are my main 2 elements.
I've added a sentiment that I recycled from another card and finished off with enamel dots.

******************************************************************************

I've made a similar card for Classic Design Team open challenge.
This time it features santa's clothes.
I saw the picture on an old Christmas card and thought it was cute enough to recycle.
